At UCN, We Take Action
Throughout its history, Unitarian Church of Norfolk has been a strong voice for justice. In the ’50s and ’60s, UCN members were at the forefront of the fight to end segregation and the Jim Crow laws. Today, UCN members are active in LGBTQ rights, and marriage equality and, through the Social Justice Committee, remain engaged in homeless issues, affordable housing, access to healthcare, and environmental protection.

UCN Fundraiser Benefits the Homeless
Each winter, UCN holds a benefit concert to raise much needed funding for NEST – Norfolk’s Emergency Shelter Team. This year’s concert, held Jan. 14, was a great sucess. Read about it here: http://www.ucnorfolk.org/nest-concert-record-breaker/
Pridefest date set for June 30
Newly installed Pride President Fawn Faulks, the group’s first African-American president, announced that Pridefest 2018 is set for June 30 and Board Member Block Werkheiser announced the Pride Block Party is tentatively set for June 29.

UCN launches Green Initiative
With the rennovation of our home upon us, UCN has undertaken a program to keep the new building green and uphold out UU principle: “respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” Congregation members are invited to contribute to this endeavor.
